Job Summary
​
The Assistant Director shall take on the responsibilities of supporting the Director in the day to day Operations of Grace Early Learning Center.

Job Responsibilities
Administrative
In collaboration with Director
-
Cover classrooms in absence of staff members
-
Take on the responsibilities of the Director in his/her absence
-
Weekly Scheduling and support the need for finding substitute teachers when needed
-
Other duties as assigned by the Director

Licensing
In collaboration with Director
-
Support Licensing Requirements
-
Attend all required meetings and training courses for Div. of Reg. Childcare and ALL-STARS program
-
Conduct and comply with yearly audit/renewal with licensing officials and ALL-STARS officials
-
Complete all required documentation, including but not limited to Plan of Corrections for any infractions or fines imposed during inspections
-
Other duties as assigned by the Director

H.R./Staff
In collaboration with Director and Superintendent

Observes/monitors staff and classroom activities
-
Ensuring GELC follows Child Care laws, regulations, and the GELC employee handbook
-
Ensures staff files and records are up to date
-
Conduct regular staff meetings in partnership with Director/2 In Service days each year
-
Other duties as assigned by the Director

Student/Parents/Enrollments
In collaboration with Director
-
Oversee classroom rosters
-
Manage and approve classroom enrollments, adjusts numbers and transitions students as needed
-
Maintain waiting list numbers and update accordingly
-
Facilitate student assessment procedures and conduct placements
-
Collaborate with teaching staff regarding child’s behavioral or learning problems, and recommends methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences

Ensure student files and records are up to date
-
Communicate with parents via phone, email, and conference on issues or complaints.

Qualifications
-
Preferred: Education Requirements- related degree (Masters or Bachelors (Preferred), Associates) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, or related field or Child Care Certificate or Credentials

Required: Child Care Director Credentials required or the commitment to obtain Child Care Director Credential within the first year of employment as Assistant Director (Compensation dependent)

Required: Completed at least 3 years of experience working under supervision primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church-operated school, or similar setting

Demonstrate proficient written and oral communication and organizational skills

Demonstrate computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Ability to access and operate licensing databases

Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with little supervision
-
Demonstrate knowledge of ages and stages of development. Demonstrate flexibility and openness to new ideas in child care practices, and under the Director’s Guidance develop implementation plans

Model conflict resolution by communicating directly with individuals involved and collaborating to develop solutions
-
Maintain confidentiality about issues regarding staff members, children, families, and church staff
