Job Summary

Grace Early Learning Center is seeking full time kitchen staff member who is responsible for opening our learning center. Preferred applicants should have at least 1 year experience working in a kitchen/cafeteria setting cooking meals for a large group and enjoy working with children. Must have effective time management skills, knowledge of food handling, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Applicants are strongly encouraged to have experience or knowledge working with children in a early learning setting. This position will be for 40 hours per week and does include paid holidays and accrued personal time off. All applicants will need to obtain childcare Orientation I & II certificates, Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma certificates, Food Handlers Permit, and CPR/First Aid if they do not already possess them.

6-2:30pm with some overtime as needed

Job Responsibilities

 

Applicant will be responsible for opening up the Early Learning Center Kitchen at 6am, cooking 3 meals for our 150-200 children, clean up kitchen and all items used for meals. This person will work directly alongside of our Kitchen Supervisor.

Kitchen Duties include:

​

  • Prepare, cook, bake, set up and deliver a variety of food items

  • Assist with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and that sanitary conditions are met.

  • Reports inferior quality of food and faulty equipment to the appropriate authority.

  • Operates commercial equipment needed in the cooking process.

  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

  • Maintain positive interactions with staff, children, and families of the school

  • Follow all policies as designated by state licensing

  • Prepare the food served to the children in accordance with the meal patterns required by the childcare food program

  • Wash, rinse and sanitize dishes and pots/ pans and replace on shelves

Job Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must have at least high school diploma or GED

  • Applicants are strongly recommend to have an educational background in Child Development or food programing. Must obtain Food Handlers Permit, childcare Orientation I & II certificates, Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma certificates and CPR/First Aid if they do not already possess them.​
